“ First time here. Lovely view of the river. Menu had great choices. Tried their oysters on the half shell and it was wonderful. We waited a long time for the oysters to show up so the server brought us some bread due to the long wait. I ordered the King Salmon and asked that it be cooked as rare as possible and the chef hit it right on. The Salmon was tender and delicious. It also came with truffle cream, pappardelle pasta, and fried garlic which I thought was a bit on the salty side, but then again the restaurant is called Salty's so I guess it lives up to it's name. Overall, it was still delicious. Highly recommend this place for seafood and will come again. ”

“ Salty's is a huge space on the Columbia River with great views! They have lots of parking, including free valet - at least on Sunday morning. Valets were polite. We came for the Sunday buffet and could not have been more excited. Our reservation was for Noon - when we walked in another customer was asking the host stand about take out. Three other employees were nearby and didn't address us or even look at us. Another couple came in moments later, and one of the three asked them if they had a reservation. I had to promptly interrupt and mention we had been standing there first, and had a reservation. Unbelievable! Pretty unaware, but they looked like teens. Not the start I want when I'm paying $90 a person! However, our server, Meghan, was superb! She explained everything and was on top of it all. If you had something on your plate, she was ready to offer extra add-ons or needed tools. Great server! The buffet is okay, but not incredible. I tried to maximize my value and fill up first on shrimp cocktail and crab legs - both pretty good. The oysters were mediocre. I wasn't a fan of the prime rib - but the steelhead on the line was amazing! I was disappointed by the premade eggs Benedict - but the fresh made waffle was delightful. Some great desserts! Of course I tried the 4ft chocolate fondue fountain, so fun! Hot towels with lemon are classy finish. Meghan even got me little candle lit dessert from my bday! Thanks! Try this at least once - maybe for a special occasion! They have regular menus other nights and some deals. ”

“ 2nd 5 star of the year goes to Salty's for their seafood brunch! This was a birthday surprise by my wonderful gf. We had reservations, got seated right away window side upstairs and got to work. Was a little overcast but still a great view. The fireplace was going, nice and cozy. Everything was fresh, the fresh sliced prime rib and ham were moist and tasty. The crab comes cold, which did make some of my butter clump up, but no worries mate, it was still juicy and packed with flavor. ”

“ I had experienced Salty's Sunday Brunch buffet years ago, and was quite impressed, so I was excited to try a lunch visit. Salty's is situated on the Columbia River, with an amazing view -- and we even saw a few airliners on approach to PDX. The feel of Salty's is definitely upscale / fancy, although the decor is rather dated. The service was top notch all the way through, and our water glasses never got lower than halfway full. Since Salty's is known for seafood, I had to start off with a cup of chowder. The base was thick and creamy, without getting pasty. It was very good. For my lunch entree, I opted for cod fish & chips -- I wanted to upgrade to halibut, they were out of it today (we were there right at opening). Not a big deal. The cod was fresh, with a crispy coating, and the fries were very good. I'm normally not a fan of battered fries, but this batter was light and crispy, and the potatoes fluffy. While we enjoyed our meal, I'm not sure it quite merited the prices Salty's is charging, so I can only give 4 stars. At that price level, I really expect the flavors to 'wow' me, but this wasn't quite on that level. ”

Standout was the crab cakes but everything was good. Solid chowder. Cioppino was decent but I've gad better and bigger portions. Overall very good, great view, pricey but worth it once in a while ”

“ I was given a gift card to Salty's from friends and my fiancé and I were excited to dine here on a lovely Saturday morning for lunch. We were seated inside but still near a window to get a nice view of the water. Our server Danielle was amazing - she gave us enough time to peruse the menu, checked on us often, and also comped us our creme brûlée! I ordered the blackened steelhead salad with a cup of chowder, and my fiancé ordered the grilled cheese. This was no ordinary meal! The salad was refreshing and with the perfect amount of dressing and a very succulent piece of steelhead. The chowder is filled with scallops, shrimp, and clams and it was incredibly tasty. Usually chowder makes me feel really full after but this cup was just enough. My fiancé's sandwich was also very unique. Neither of us are big crab lovers, but this sandwich had melted gruyere cheese, shredded crab, thick pieces of bacon, and tomato in between two slices of delicious bread. It was fun to dip it in the chowder and was also very light! We ordered a creme brûlée for dessert and noticed that some of the fruit on it was a bit squishy and bordering on rotting. We took those off and still enjoyed the brûlée itself. At the end we told Danielle about the fruit and showed it to her and she comped it for us. It was an excellent meal and wonderful service! All other wait staff were amazing too from the hostess engaging us in a conversation on our way to the table to a bartender immediately bringing us water. Even with the fruit incident it was a lovely time and I would still give this place 5 stars! ”

“ My husband and I decided to treat ourselves to the Sunday brunch buffet at Salty's! It did not disappoint! We don't do buffets often and when we do, it's usually in Vegas. I was surprised by the price of this buffet versus even a Vegas buffet, it was much higher than expected but a lot cheaper than taking a trip so we went for it. One thing that is great is that the mimosas are only $5! So I think that ends up helping with the overall cost of food, drink and tip. The location itself is in north Portland on the marina just ten minutes from us. We got free valet (offered to all customers). We got sat outside on a beautiful sunny day overlooking the water. It was a great view to take in, in between stuffing our faces. The inside is pretty tight and you do end up pushing through people and employees to try to get around to all the food. At least everyone is friendly! They have a meat carving station, seafood, dessert, bread, crepe, omelette and pasta making stations. The food is overall great buffet style quality. Of course most of us are there for the crab!! It was fresh and phenomenal, served with hot butta. My husband was there for the oysters and I think ate over a dozen. We tried pretty much everything. They have chocolate fountain that we didn't get too but I recommend the pasta making station. A few of my shrimp weren't fully deveined so I passed on those and the prime rib was sadly under seasoned and cold but I added some au jus and horseradish. We ended with desserts that were delicious but by then, we were at our absolute max! The service is outstanding! Everyone was nice and provided anything we needed very fast, which I appreciated! I would recommend this to anyone who loves seafood and buffets! ”
